What each field is for.

The home page is the short version. This page covers the fields you fill in before exporting, and what is allowed to leave the phone. Deck Stills needs an internet connection. It does not run offline.

The loop

1. Open a clip from Photos or Files. The video stays on this phone.
2. Set the window and the labels below. Grab stills.
3. Export a PDF pack, a contact sheet, or copy the prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any AI chat.
4. Paste that reply back. Export coach report keeps the AI's wording and adds the name and the stills.

Deck Stills does not write the reply.

Set these before you export

• Stroke Required

  Butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, or freestyle. The prompt uses it to time a cycle. Export is blocked until this is set.

• Camera Required

  Head-on, side above water, side underwater, from behind, or overhead. The prompt states what that angle can and cannot show. Export is blocked until this is set.

The window

• Presets Optional

  Start, underwater, turn, 6 seconds of mid-pool, or custom. A preset fills duration and segment. You can still type your own numbers.

• Start Optional

  Seconds into the clip where the window begins. Set window start drops this on the frame you are watching.

• Duration Optional

  How long the window lasts, in seconds. A mid-pool look is often about 6 seconds. A start or turn is shorter.

• Interval Optional

  How far apart the stills are: 2, 5, or 8 per second. Five per second is 0.20 seconds, the usual choice.

• Segment Optional

  Start, underwater, breakout, pullout, mid-pool stroke, turn, or finish. Tells the AI to stay inside that piece of the race.

Context

None of these are required. They go into the prompt as context. They are not something the AI can see in the frames.

• Age Optional

  Age band, from 8 and under through 19+. For 18 and under, the prompt asks for an encouraging tone and no comments on physique, size, or weight. Body position, body line, and streamline are technique, and the AI still coaches them.

• Country Optional

  United States, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, or other. Choosing the United States opens the standard list.

• Program Optional

  Age group, high school, summer league, college, masters, or national.

• Best standard in this event Optional

  Under More details, and only for the United States. B through AAAA. It is a time standard, not something visible in the film.

• Event / note Optional

  On the pack label. A meet note such as "100 fly prelims." It prints on the pack cover.

• Known issues Optional

  A cue you already know, such as a late breath. The prompt lists it as a note, not as a fact the frames proved.

Name

• Name Optional

  Leave it blank and the pack says "the swimmer."

  One name is used as typed. First and last become the first name and last initial on the pack, the contact sheet, the file name, and the prompt you paste into an AI. The AI is told not to expand that initial or ask for the rest.

  The coach report uses the full name. That file is the one you keep. It is not the prompt.

  The name stays in this browser until you reset fields. We never receive it.

What you can export

• PDF pack Stills

  A cover and the frames, six to a page. Uses the short name. This is the file you can share with an AI.

• Contact sheet Stills

  The same frames as JPEG sheets, when a chat limits how many images you can attach.

• Copy prompt Text

  Camera limits, tempo, three technical points, what already looks sound, and up to three drills. Capped at 1500 words. Short name only.

• Coach report Reply plus stills

  Paste the AI reply, then export. The wording is not rewritten. The report adds the full name, the window, the stills that reply cites, and the rest of the frames after the text.
